Invisible Cities: A Short Reflective Statement
The Invisible Cities digital concept art project is to
produce three pieces of images for the environment of a 3D animated film. The
process started with drawing several thumbnails for the final composition.
Due to the lack of experience in 2D digital painting, the
process was quite challenging especially when it comes to adding details to
objects in the scene and perspective drawing. Another hardship was lighting which
led the time of the scene to set as night.
Throughout the process, 2D digital painting skills in
Photoshop improved significantly as well as traditional drawing skills
including perspective drawing and coloring. Apart from technical improvements, the
process of looking into different places and combining them to create a new place
helped a lot with generating ideas.
In general sense, time management was quite difficult since
there are a lot of different tasks not only for this project but the coursework
from the university and my personal work. As the deadline comes closer, all the
work was rushed which eventually resulted in worse final quality.
In conclusion, the lack of experience in drawing and time
management was the biggest trouble and it was able to gain digital painting and
material research skills in this project.
